Heel Pain Caused by Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis is an inflammation of the band of tissue (the plantar fascia) that extends from the heel to the toes. With this condition, the fascia first becomes irritated and then inflamed, resulting in heel pain. Heel pain may also be due to other causes, such as a stress fracture, tendonitis, arthritis, nerve irritation, or, rarely, a cyst. Whatever the cause of your heel pain, if you experience discomfort, Dr. Daniel Hennessy at Denville Foot & Ankle can help you.

Heel pain usually affects the underside or back of your heel. Although heel pain is rarely a symptom of a serious condition, it can interfere with your normal activities, particularly exercise. If you experience severe pain and swelling near your heel, the inability to bend your foot downward, or inability to rise on your toes, our staff encourages you to schedule an office visit. Non-surgical treatment options may include stretching exercises and shoe modifications.

If you suffer from heel pain, please give us a call to discuss your treatment options.
